Dependent on your child's individual development,we will start to integrate the toddlers into the main unit to widen their experiences. This will be done through discussion with parents and giving the children settling in sessions where they can get used to the new environment with their future key worker helping to support them through the process. As a guide this will usually be at the age of 2 years old.You will have plenty of opportunity to discuss transition with the Baby Room staff and to meet your new Key Worker.

The staff who are working in this unit are committed to their roles and to providing the best possible support and stimulation to your child. They will be introducing new experiences and opportunities to satisfy your child's rapidly increasing desire for knowledge.

This open plan area is designed to allow ease of movement and interaction through the individual areas.

The 'Main room' is full of easily accessible toys that the children can chose themselves along with some planned activities.

The 'Shh room' is our calming, quiet room which is used for circle times, key group activities, role play, reading and group math activities. It is also our sleep area for children who may need a sleep after lunch.

The messy play room is set up for children to explore messy materials such as; paint, water, sand, gloop and other such fun substances!

The toilet area with its low level wash basins and toilets are easily accessible and allow the children to gain independence in their self care and daily hygiene routines.

There are French doors leading directly to the outside play areas.

Much of our day is free flow, allowing children to make choices of which areas they would like to play in.

The wide range of activities provided covers all 7 areas of the E.Y.F.S. Key workers along with the Main room leader create activities based on the children's interest and developmental needs. The majority of the activities we have out are child chosen throughout the day.

Staff ratios

One member of staff for every four children aged under 3, one member of staff for every eight children aged over 3.

A Key Person system is operated to allow your child to build that special relationship with someone they can learn to trust. The Key Person will closely monitor each child's individual needs and progress.

Play and learning

We offer a balance of planned activities, toys and free play. All children are given the opportunity to participate and are able to plan their own play and select their own resources both inside and outside. These activities are adapted on a regular basis to take into account children's current interests and to keep the activities challenging.

Record keeping

Your child's Key Person will continually monitor and record your child's progress.

We use an online system called 'Tapestry', which allows you to see observations and photos as they are taken. You are also able to contribute to this yourself. You will also receive a report around 3 months of your child's second birthday, a two year old check. We also hold 2 parents evenings per year as well as hand you termly 'Next Steps' so that you can see what it is we are aiming to work on with your child as well as gain your feedback on what you feel your child may need developmentally.
